Visits
Where do you travel?
The Acadian Peninsula, based around Tracadie-Sheila, and Greater Moncton — Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview and the surrounding communities. When you book a home visit I ask which town you are in before showing any dates, so you only ever see days I am genuinely near you. Pop-up dates cover the towns in between.
Does the visit cost anything?
No, not in the towns I travel to — booking is free and there is no call-out fee. Further out, tell me where you are and I will say what is possible before anything is booked, rather than after. You pay only for frames and lenses, if you decide to order any, and you pay in person.
How long does a fitting take?
About forty-five minutes for a first visit. A second pair, when I already have your file, is usually twenty.
Why can I not see the frames on the website?
Because a photograph of a frame tells you almost nothing about whether it will suit you. Width, bridge, how it sits on your cheek and what your prescription needs all decide that, and they can only be judged with the frame on your face. I bring the case to you instead — that is the whole idea.
Do you have a store I can walk into?
Not yet. For now there are two ways it happens: I drive to you, or I set up at a community pop-up. An office is coming in the Acadian Peninsula and I will say so here as soon as there is a date. The booking calendar shows which days are which, and pop-up days carry the full address with a link for directions.
Can the visit be in French?
Yes — in French or in English, whichever you choose when you book. Your invoice and any paperwork follow the same language.
My town is not on the list. Can you still come?
Very likely. Choose "Somewhere else nearby" when you book, name your village, and tell me which of my regular stops is closest to you — that is how I work out whether I can reach you on a given day. If it turns out to be too far I will tell you rather than leave you waiting.
Do I need an account to book?
Yes, and it takes about thirty seconds. Your prescription, your invoices and your appointments all live in it, which is what lets a second pair take twenty minutes instead of forty-five. If you would rather not create one, call me and I will book it for you.
Do you fit children's glasses?
Yes, at any age, including toddlers. It is often easier at home than in a store — the child is somewhere familiar, nobody is waiting behind you, and there is time to start the fitting over. Adjustments are included for as long as they wear them, on my next run through your area — which matters more for a child than for anyone else.
What if I need to cancel or move the time?
Give me at least 48 hours where you can, through the booking page. Inside 24 hours, call me instead of cancelling online — a visit can mean a long drive, and a call lets me rearrange it properly.
Prescriptions & lenses
Can you test my eyes?
No. I am an optician: I fit and dispense to a prescription, I do not write one. An eye exam has to come from an optometrist or ophthalmologist, and I am happy to point you toward one nearby.
I have lost my prescription. Is that a problem?
Usually not. Your optometrist keeps it on file and will normally give you a copy on request — ask them before the visit if you can. If yours has expired I will tell you before anything is ordered.
Can I buy lenses for a frame I already own?
Bring the frame to a fitting and I will tell you honestly whether it can take a new lens. Older frames sometimes cannot.
Pricing & insurance
Why are there no prices on the website?
Because a pair of glasses is a frame plus a lens, and the lens price depends on your prescription, the material and the treatments. Quoting a range online would either mislead you or scare you off. I give you the exact figure at the fitting, out loud, before anything is ordered.
How do I pay?
At the visit — card, e-transfer or cash. Nothing is charged through this website, and I never ask for card details over the phone or by email.
Do you bill my insurance?
I direct-bill a select list of providers. Add yours when you book and I will check your coverage before I arrive. If I cannot bill them, you get an itemized invoice that claims cleanly.
Can I return them if I change my mind?
Not for a change of mind. Lenses are ground to your prescription and fit nobody else, so a pair that comes back cannot go to anyone — there is nothing to restock. What is covered is anything wrong with them: a manufacturing defect on the frame or the lenses is put right under the one-year warranty, at no charge. Adjustments are never a return either — those are included for as long as you wear them, on my next run through your area.
After the fitting
How long until my glasses arrive?
Two weeks, whatever the lenses — single vision, progressive and unusual prescriptions all take about the same. It runs longer in two cases: if you would rather I hand them to you in person than have them mailed, since that waits for my next day in your area, or if the lab hits a problem with the job. I tell you the expected date at the fitting and let you know if it moves.
What if they need adjusting later?
Adjustments are included, for as long as you have the glasses. Message me and I will fit it into the next run through your area.
What if something is not right?
Tell me. A lens that was cut or fitted incorrectly is remade at my cost. A prescription that turns out to be wrong is a conversation with the optometrist who wrote it, and I will help you have it.
Is there a warranty?
Frames and lenses carry a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Adjustments are separate from that and are included for as long as you wear them — they do not run out with the warranty. They happen on my next run through your area.
How long do you keep my records?
Seven years after your last visit, which is what the record-keeping rules for opticians in New Brunswick require of me, and then they are destroyed. You can ask to see what I hold or to have it corrected at any time — the privacy policy explains how.
